Risks
and inconveniences
When undergoing orthodontic treatment, risks and discomforts are present just like any medical treatment.
The main risks are: tooth and bone sensitivity due to the gentle continuous pressure provided by the braces. In addition, the inside of the mouth and tongue may become somewhat irritated, especially during the first few days after braces are placed. Sometimes one experiences a drier mouth or a little more discoloration of the teeth due to dyes that stick in the mouth and to the attachments. There may be teeth or molars that barely move due to ankylosis or severe clenching and grinding. The complete list will be given to you when you are in our practice before you start treatment.
